Midterm Election Poo
Sound the alarm! Marriage is under attack!!!
Uh-oh, must be midterm election time and the Republicans must be a little worried. Time to pull out their favorite distraction issues. For those of you not already under the Turd-Blossom spell, here's an announcement: Marriage is NOT under attack, but your wallet, job, and family are!
Republicans just gave a bunch of your money to the wealthiest people in the country so that they can finance $400 million dollar retirement plans. The price of gas has been election-time stabilized, and if you don't think it will be going up after the election, you're been sniffing the fumes at the pump. Wages are going down and jobs are leaving the country, while workers are imported to take the jobs that you won't work for slave wages. But hey, look over there, marriage is under attack!
Has any straight couple been prohibited from getting married in any way? Does your marriage feel like it is under attack? Okay, yeah it's under financial strain brought on by an economy that favors the rich a thousand times more than the middle-class, but that's about the only real attack on marriage there is. If enough Americans allow their focus to be distracted by this issue, the nextHollywood flick about somebody taking it up the rear will be called Brokeback Budget.
All kidding aside, your wallet is under attack. Your ability to raise your family is under attack. The values of hard work rewarded with a good living and a shot at the American Dream are under attack. Your retirement, health care, and savings are under attack. Education and employment are under attack. In fact, your freedom is under attack far more than marriage. Forget the distraction issues, this country is under attack from within and only awareness, vigilance, and exercising your right to vote will defend it.
In an amusing move, First Lady Laura Bush has said that Republican candidates should not campaign on the gay marriage issue. I guess she knows all to well what happens when you tell the kids to stay out of the cookie jar.
