BioShocking Poo
Do NOT Buy BioShock!
Normally I don't do game reviews, but I'm really ticked off about this one. I was looking forward to BioShock until I found out that 2K Games has hobbled the game with some idiotic copy protection scheme that only allows two installs on a PC. Then, to excuse their actions, 2K games tries to say that this is only a problem for thieves, thus calling their customers dishonest. They say that all you have to do is uninstall the game before you reformat. Yeah right, like I'm reformatting because the computer has NOT crashed past recovery??? I have better things to do.
I've been burned by this kind of thing before. I've been told, during a support call, that I couldn't play a game on a SATA dvd drive because the copy protection was incompatible with "newer technology." I've had to call for a reset of the copy protection because Windows was just a little too crash-happy and I used up all of my activations. I've paid good money one too many times for this kind of useless, time-wasting garbage!
If the only way I can get a quality copy of a game is to steal, then I will, and I do NOT steal games. Way to go game companies, you've succeeded only in encouraging theft!
One final note on BioShock. It seems they also screwed up widescreen play. As a widescreen owner, I'm completely sick of game developers promising, and then not providing, widescreen support.
