From The Agonist:

Conversation with an Indian IT Professional

"Yes, hello, this is Sean Kelley calling from Singapore, may I speak with Mr. Kumar?"

"Mr. Kumar? May I ask why?"

"Yes, he is evaluating our software and I wish to speak with him about it."

"Oh, Mr. Kumar is not here."

"Do you know when he will return?"

"No, I don't."

"This is his mobile number, yes?"

"No, he doesn't have one. This is his sister's brother's cousin's mobile, I am Suresh. He only has a phone at work."

"Ah, I see. Do you have that number?"

"Yes, but their line is down now. Can I take a message?"

"I'll send him an email. Thanks."

Some of you wanted to know some of the obstacles to doing business in India were. I think this short, 100% true, dialogue captures the essence of the challenges on the ground there the best. As for what a 'sister's brother's cousin' is, who knows?
