Bangalore Babble V

The Consumerist has another great example of Bangalore Babble, or do they? At least one commenter wonders if the alleged tech support email may not have been computer generated. Either way, this is a good part of the reason that I don't buy anything from Creative anymore.

Outsourcing 101, Halo 3

'"I skipped one class today, and it was well worth it," he said.' -customer waiting in line for Halo 3

And Bill Gates wonders why he can find well-educated workers without going outside the country. Maybe because he (and others) create a hype machine that encourages consumption above production. Business wants it both ways. They want smart, hard-working employees, who will work cheap; and they want customers who will enthusiastically buy into the advertising blitz, skip school or work, and buy $500 consoles to play $60 games. You simply cannot be the kind of worker that corporate America claims to want while being the kind of consumer that they need.

Bangalore Babble IV

Dell Computers, as part of their new race-to-the-bottom sales initiative, will now be selling computers at Walmart. I can just hear the tech support calls now:

Bangalore Support: Ello, my name is Bruce. I am understanding that your WallyWorld CompuCheap Extreme computer is crashing. How may I offer assistance to you?

Customer: Hey, Jim Bob here. Uhhhhhh... Geet 'er done!

Bangalore Support: ***click***
